The Balcony of the "Great Lake"The communes of the Albanais region, at the heart of the Bauges, overlook the lac du Bourget. With the gentle curves of the mountains and the considerable river-erosion of the plateaux, this side of the massif is an excellent place to admire the landscape; the area is also known for its road leading to the ski resort of le Revard. In the past, there was a rack railway which carried passengers taking the waters at the spa of Aix les Bains up to the fresh air of the Revard. This side of the Bauges links lake and mountain.
