The Vineyard SlopesThe landscape of the Combe de Savoie rises from the alluvial plain of the River Isère to the mountain ridges of the Bauges, a height difference of 2000 metres. With its particularly sunny climate, the piedmont of the Bauges is greatly appreciated by the vines - and by the inhabitants. Higher up, the slope becomes steeper and there are areas of dry limestone grassland. The imposing cliffs which overlook the valley provide nesting places for birds of prey; paragliders often share the sky with them. With numerous chateaux, fortified houses and lookout towers, the Combe de Savoie has many strongholds which previously controlled the road to Italy.
